The historic Collines du Bourdic cooperative winery was established in 1928 in the village of Bourdic in the Gard department, its location by the railway line proving ideal for transporting wine throughout France. Now, almost a century later, some 100 winegrowers across 1,800 hectares of vineyard in the Uzège region follow in the footsteps of their forebears, driven by the same passion and energy, and committed to the universal cooperative values of unity, equity and responsibility. Wines are made in a high-performance, high-precision facility which combines the traditional with the modern.
Environment is high on the agenda: 95% of the vineyard area has some form of environmental accreditation, be it AB (organic), HVE (High Environmental Value) or Terra Vitis. Alongside their eco commitments, Collines du Bourdic growers are driven by their determination to showcase the variety of terroirs represented in their vineyards.
Much of this work falls to Edwige Hoareau, the winery’s technician since 2012, who oversees the vineyard monitoring process and evaluates the quality and yield potential of each plot. It’s a painstaking task, but is fundamental to deciding which plots will be used for which wines. Edwige also manages the production of Duché d’Uzès AOP red wines.
